December gives us some great weather and sensational fishing!
Can you believe we’re in the year 2020! Where has the time gone…let alone the past year?? Happy New Year to everyone and I hope it has been a great start to the year for you!
Australia has been doing it tough with the bush fires down south causing so much damage to the natural environment and property. Our hearts go out to the people and lives lost during this tough time down there. All the best to those effected and we hope you get back on your feet soon.
After a fairly windy spring, summer has turned it on! With the wind shifting into a more easterly flow, it has made for some great conditions on the bay.
December saw guests get into the spotted mackerel, tuna, trevally and even a few black marlin.
It was a good month overall with hardly a day lost due to weather which was a great change from a breezy November period. We had some great captures including some nice longtail tuna on the flats.
Working deeper in the water column we picked up golden trevally, the odd cobia, tea leaf and bludger trevally.
With multiple guides out daily we were in the thick of the action, the extra eyes on the water certainly gives our guests the best experience on offer.
Fly anglers also enjoyed a few nice sessions on the flats targeting golden trevally with fish to 7 kg caught by fly anglers. Long accurate casts were necessary but if the fly was in the right spot we got the bite.
Over the next few months, we will continue to see some good fishing and it wont be long before our longtail season kicks in. Longtail tuna from 5- 10 kg will begin to move in and start rounding up the bait. This is some of the best top water fishing you can experience, so don’t miss out! Other species to target will be queenfish, school mackerel and broad bar mackerel. These species seem to move in with the longtails. Our regular population of golden trevally will also be active as they join in feeding under the tuna schools.
Longtail season is upon us email us firstname.lastname@example.org for rates and dates.

Black Marlin Run 2019
The Black Marlin continued through December with a late run of fish. Gary Engel travelled from Florida USA to catch one of our shallow water marlins. While being amazed by the skinny water and landscapes, we got the job done in style with this great fish landed in the shallows.
Dillon from Brisbane also landed a cracking fish of around 55kg while being guided by Pete. After an hour battle they landed this amazing marlin! Well done to Pete and the boys on such an epic catch.
Less than 10 months left until they arrive again! Make sure you book early to secure your spot for the 2020 season.

Catch of The Month
Paul Taylor takes out December’s catch of the month with this cracking golden trevally caught on fly.
This fish was a stubborn one with a long epic battle on the flats. Well done mate, it was a pleasure again to guide you.

Fisho’s Bush Fire Appeal
We are a bunch of Fisho’s joining together to raise as many funds as possible to help those affected by the 2019 Australian Bushfires.
It is no news to you all, how tragic these bushfires are and have been to families around Australia over these past few months. So far 6.3 million hectares have been burnt, 25 people have lost their lives included two volunteer fire fighters and over 1300 homes have been destroyed. This is absolutely devastating. These fires are still burning out of control with conditions continuing to worsen.
Please help us in raising as much money as we can to support those affected by this tragedy.
Please Donate to the below link
Also a big thanks to the companies behind the Fisho’s appeal. There were some great prizes donated to go towards motivating people to donate. We gave away a Full Day Guided Fishing as part of the prize pack. Those prizes have now been claimed but please help us continue to raise much needed funds.
The companies involved …
Big thanks to Jess and Chris Nash of Nashys Custom Lures for getting right behind it and getting everyone on board. With now over $57 000 raised it’s a great contribution by the fishing community. Well done to everyone that has donated so far.
