Spring Fishing Starting To Heat Up
Spring is upon us well and truly with water temps on the rise. September saw some great fishing but we did lose a few days to bad weather. We have had a fantastic run of weather this year let’s hope it continues now it has settled again.
Guests enjoyed the warm spring days on the water with a range of species on offer during September. Golden trevally, tea leaf trevally, bludger trevally, Spanish mackerel, school mackerel, queenfish, longtail and mac tuna were all out and about. Fishing the shallow reefs also resulted in some nice cod, painted sweetlip, grunter and coral trout caught by guests.
October we generally see the start of our annual run of small black marlin. We are looking forward to a good season on the small black’s with reports from up north of good numbers, so let’s hope they trickle into the bay over the coming weeks.
Our spotty mackerel season will also be kicking off in the coming weeks. Chasing these speedsters is always very visual and a lot of fun between targeting other species. Longtail and mac tuna have also started to move in the bay, good numbers can be found in a few locations giving anglers some great spring time sportfishing. We still have dates available through October and the Spring season. If you are after some fun in the sun, drop us a email for rates and dates.
Murray, Pete and Myself are pumped for the months ahead. This time of year is exciting with the flats fishing firing up. Both lure and fly fisherman can see some very unique fishing at times in our world class fishery. After a great winter season we look forward to guiding our guests over the coming months.

Whale Season Kicks on
Through October our whale watching season continues. Fishing while these majestic creatures cruise past is a great experience.
Also if your family are with you, why not send them out with our Whale Watching partner Freedom III for a great day on the water while you fish.
Our New Website
A big thanks to Jen Mulligan, of Jen Mulligan Design, https://jenmulligandesign.com/ for doing our website upgrade. The old site served us well but it’s time to freshen things up. We will be adding more info over time but for now it has came together well. Great job Jen!
Recent rain Event
We received some well needed rain this week with around 150 mm falling locally in Hervey Bay. Bundaberg received a drenching with 300mm falling in 24 hours. With the rain there was a few water spouts causing some damage when they made landfall.
All is good other wise with the weather returning to normal now. The rain will give the rivers a little push of fresh which will help move some of the estuary species to the lower reaches and push some bait out in the bay.
Some big spanish have been coming in off the Urangan Pier. The pier can be a great land based spot with some great fish landed daily off the pier. Many anglers learn the basics fishing from the Pier including Murray and myself as a youngsters. Well done to this young bloke landing a cracker off the Pier.
