Another Great Winter Season
Well the winter season is now over what a great season for Hervey Bay Fly and Sportfishing. Some great captures and memories with our guests making it one of the best winters yet. A big thanks to all our guests who joined us over the winter season!
August saw some good fishing once again with big cobia being a highlight. Snapper, golden trevally, longtail and mac tuna were also about in good numbers. We also had some great fishing for the elusive Bonefish with guests enjoying the thrill of landing something fairly rare to Australia’s East Coast.
The next month ahead
With September comes warmer water temps, inshore reefs will start to fire for golden trevally, cod, painted sweetlip, grass sweetlip and coral trout. Working soft plastics over theses reefs will see some fun light tackle fishing. Flathead will also be a worthy target over the flats with spring seeing the bigger models becoming active. Flathead are always a great species to target on those windier days when the bay is too hard to fish effectively.
The next month will see longtail and mac tuna begin to work smaller bait on the surface. Small slugs down to 15 g will be the norm when the eye size bait arrives. This will make for some great surface fishing with school and spotted mackerel also giving anglers a buzz.
