Hervey Bay Fishing Charters April Report 2017

Another great month for Hervey Bay Fly and Sportfishing with guests enjoying some first-class fishing. Cobia, longtail tuna, golden trevally, queenfish, mac tuna, various mackerel and trevally species plus more were caught on our day charters along with extended mother shipping trips.

Conditions were generally not too bad with south east trade winds most days. We saw a bumper longtail season this year with numbers slowly tapering off during April. May we will see a few longtails about with bigger models starting to come through.  Snapper will begin to migrate into the bay during May as we see yakka schools move in and water temperatures slowly drop away to the low 20’s. All our usual species will also be on offer during May with our beautiful winter Glass outs starting to become more frequent.

The Mother Shipping Experience

In April we had 2 mother shipping experience trips on. Both trips we receive some ordinary weather but the end results were great with some great fishing for our guests. We had some great longtail tuna sessions along with guides finding guests some nice trevally, mackerel, cobia, queenfish, scarlets along with other mixed bottom dwellers.

Along with the fishing guests enjoyed Keith and Sue’s hospitality onboard freedom III. With fantastic hot cooked meals for Breakfast ,lunch, Dinner along with beautiful deserts and freshly caught and cooked sand crabs everyone was certainly well looked after. Our mother shipping  experience is great value for money at $500 per person per day based on  anglers fishing 3 per guide boat. This includes all meals, guide boats and guides, it’s certainly a great trip and something we believe is very special.
